if we’re talkin’ about listenin’ to the CBC… I can’t forget about this lovely man:

Dan Mangan “Post-war blues”

(live @ CBC Vancouver)

I recently started listening to CBC Radio 2 during the drive to and from work. I’ve never really given it a chance before- probably because I didn’t know when programs I’d like would be on and I wasn’t in the mood. Anyway, lately, it’s been perfect. Is it crazy to say it also makes me feel more Canadian? Cause it totally does.

If you listen to the CBC or watch it you’re probably aware that it’s celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. I was just browsing on their website when I saw this pic. I like it a lot. It’s totally random and I likey.

Started watching Being Erica this week and really love it. I will continue to preach that it is always great seeing Toronto being Toronto. It’s used so much in tv/film and made to be something else- but this great Canadian show celebrates it for what it is. Or aspects of it. I love seeing familiar landmarks & hearing more Canadian music.

Location aside, the plot is interesting. The main character is transported back in time to key moments in her life that she regrets. She’s given the opportunity to change them. Sounds hokey, but it’s never as straight forwrad as that. Some times as Erica attempts to “fix” a regretful situation she sometimes makes other mistakes that impact her just as much. What I like about this show is that it’s not always smooth sailing. The show is more about Erica learning new things about herself and gaining confidence than it is about making life more ‘perfect.’ She merely learns lessons by re-experincing her past in order to create positive chance in her present.

Anyway, I don’t think I’ve watched a CBC drama since… Road To Avonlea (childhood Sunday evenings, represent!). It’s been a looooooong time. Too long. Good job CBC, me likey.
